Incident: Deputies investigate dog bite
When: Friday, May 2 at 8:36 am
Where: 100 block of South Sunlight, Star
Details:
Star Police responded to a report of a dog bite that injured a Star child just after 8:30 Friday morning. An 8-year-old boy and his 12-year-old brother were walking in the 100 block of South Sunlight when a dog came out from one of a yard and bit the younger boy on the leg.
Witnesses say the children spoke to the dog as they walked by. That’s when the Rottweiler left his yard, bit the 8-year-old once on the leg and retreated back into his yard.
The child sustained a substantial leg injury and was transported to a medical facility by a family member. The 8-year-old was treated and released.
The Rottweiler was removed from the home and is being held by the Idaho Humane Society Animal Control Division.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office served a citation on the owner of the Rottweiler for having a dog at large in late 2007. Another incident, a dog bite, was reported to Animal Control in March.
The dog owner is expected to be cited in this most recent incident. Idaho Humane Society Animal Control Division will be the agency to issue that citation.
