Information Release
Sheriff's deputies and Boise Police officers responded to a call of shots fired at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of South Five Mile just after midnight Saturday morning. When they arrived, they found two males inside an apartment. One had three gunshot wounds to his lower torso. When deputies tried to enter the apartment to help the victim and secure the scene, the second person at the apartment became hostile, blocked the officers' way and refused to follow deputies' commands. A deputy deployed a tazer to control the man. Augustin Padilla, 25, was taken into custody and charged with resisting and obstructing officers. The gunshot victim, a 21-year-old male, was taken to Saint Alphonsus where he is being treated for his injuries. He is expected to survive.
Meanwhile, two males inside a home on South Black Hills Avenue made contact with officers in the area and asked for help. One of the males in the home, an 18 year old, had a single gunshot wound to the leg. Through their investigation, deputies determined the second person in the home - a 17-year-old male - was responsible for both shootings. They also determined the second shooting was accidental.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery. Because he is a juvenile, his name is not being released.
Both gunshot victims remain hospitalized at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Their exact conditions are not known, but both are expected to survive.
