Information Release
A patrol deputy driving Highway 16 at about 10:30 this morning noticed skid marks and a vehicle that appeared to have left the road and crashed.
When the deputy went to investigate, he found a deceased male lying near the crashed PT Cruiser. The man had been ejected from the car. His body was covered with snow and appeared to have been there for some time. The Ada County Coroner has identified the driver as Edward P. Campbell Jr., 47, of Emmett.
Through their investigation, deputies determined the PT Cruiser was driving north on Highway 16, skidded off the road and rolled before landing in a parking lot at the Eagle Knoll Winery. Excessive speed appears to be a factor. Deputies are working to determine if alcohol was also involved. They believe the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver was last seen in Emmett at 9:30pm Tuesday when he left to go to Boise. Deputies believe he was returning to Gem County when he crashed.
