Forensic scientists have made giant steps forward in their efforts to help law enforcement in identifying and convicting criminals. However, this science can only be used in crime scene investigations if it is based on valid and reliable scientific procedures. The scientific method sets standards in how evidence is processed and analyzed.

Forensic science assists law enforcement in identifying and convicting criminals. Through grant and drug seizure monies the Sheriff's Office implemented its own crime lab in February 2002.

This lab has greatly benefited the criminal justice system and our community by validating evidence left behind at crime scenes.
