"Ne Desit Virtus": Let Valor Not Fail

Ada Metro SWAT's purpose is to resolve dangerous situations safely, without injury to anyone. It responds to high-risk situations that are outside the normal resources and capabilities of a patrol team.

The Ada Metro SWAT team is made up of deputies and detectives from the Ada County Sheriff's Office and the Meridian Police Department. To become a member, the candidate goes through a competitive selection and testing process. Once selected, each member must successfully complete a basic SWAT operators school.

SWAT training covers many different skills and tactical elements. It includes specialized training to enhance personal and overall team capabilities. Training is ongoing, with focused training drills occurring twice each month.

The Ada Metro SWAT Team members reach out to the public by attending various community events each year. The team members frequently provide educational demonstrations or lectures to various groups. They are frequently invited to schools or other public events where they challenge children with a miniature SWAT obstacle course.

SWAT consists of four elements that work together to solve today's complex issues: Bomb, Special Weapons and Tactics, Crisis Negotiations, and Tactical Medical.
