How can I buy a Youth license plate?
Go to your local Department of Motor Vehicles and ask for the "Youth" plate. On the specialty plate application check the "Youth" box. Or online, go to the Idaho Transportation Department specialty plates page and follow the directions.
Where does the license plate money go?
100% of the money generated by the Youth plates goes to at-risk youth and programs that offer these youth activities during non-school hours to help prevent drug and alcohol abuse and gang activity.
Who can apply for a grant?
Schools and non-profit organizations may apply for the Mini-Grants. Priority will be given (but not limited) to elementary schools and those programs providing prevention services and intervention efforts that are consistent with the Ada County Sheriff's Youth Foundation program objectives.
What is the Mini-Grant application process?
The application should include the following:
- Name of the sponsoring organization/agency along with a brief history and list of other sponsors.
- Name and contact information of the program contact person. This person may be asked to make a follow-up presentation to the ACSYF grant review committee.
- A statement of purpose. In 500 words or less, explain how the grant will benefit the community, how the organization will use the grant money, how the organization will help promote the Youth license plate, how the organization will grow or be sustained after the grant period, and how the project will be evaluated.
- A detailed budget of how the money will be used and the total amount requested.
Applications are due by September 2, 2008.
