Kuna Police Chief

Chief Kody Aldrich

Lieutenant Kody Aldrich was named Kuna's Police Chief in January of 2007, nine years after joining the Ada County Sheriff's Office where he has served many roles. Aldrich has worked as a jail detention deputy, patrol deputy, agency instructor, jail sergeant, and patrol sergeant. He has also been a Senior Academy Instructor for the Baltimore Police Department and has worked on a contract basis for the Department of Justice.

Lt. Aldrich relies on his experience to help further his fellow officers' education. He is an Idaho POST Academy instructor and an adjunct instructor for the Idaho State Institute of Emergency Management teaching courses on use of force, deadly force, arrest and control tactics, ground fighting, law enforcement response to weapons of mass destruction, instructor development, the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System. Aldrich has also earned numerous awards including the Idaho POST Sharpshooter Award, Police Fitness Excellence Award, Tactical Edge Award, Baltimore Police Department's Instructor Unit Citation Award, Service Excellence Award and the Distinguished Service Medal.

Lt. Aldrich lives in Kuna and enjoys working closely with the community.

Kuna began contracting for law enforcement services with the Ada County Sheriff's Office in 1998. In addition to Lt. Kody Aldrich, there are two field supervisors, eight deputies, two detectives and a field services technician committed to patrolling and protecting Kuna. These officers can call on fellow deputies from the county for help when necessary. The partnership between Kuna and the Ada County Sheriff's Office means the city has access to all of the county's law enforcement resources without the administrative costs of running a fully independent police department.
